5 basic elements of web design

Your website is your online store. This is what is mainly responsible for making your users click further on your landing page and go for a purchase. Thus, every single aspect of web designing should be given high importance. To start with the creation process, you need to think about the most basic elements upon which the overall look and feel of your website depend a lot. Here’s a brief discussion to help you create a better layout.

Colour Scheme

No matter, how good graphics you have added to your website, it won’t look good unless there’s a good combination of color schemes. It is the color that highlights every single element on your website. Therefore, it is out and out necessary to learn about the color schemes first.

There are three basic colors schemes, namely analogous colors, complementary colors and monochromic colors. The first types of colors are very close to each other. They are mainly found on natural elements and are very soothing to the eyes. Complementary colors are in contrast to each other on the same color wheel. They are generally used to create bold contrast so that it can attract the attention of the viewers. These colors are used mostly for creating call to action buttons. Finally, the monochromic colors are for displaying different values of the same color. These are mainly used as the backgrounds of high-quality graphics and they are a kind of safe choice as far as the design of a website is concerned.

Constant Flow

There are generally two payouts used in a single website. One for the home page and the other one is for the inner pages. You can use more page layouts on your website. For example, there can be different layouts for the service pages, product pages, blog pages and contact pages. But you need to keep in mind that all the pages create an overall impact on the viewers and for that there should be a particular flow of the pages. A good theme should be focussed and there needs to be meaningful use of the colors and graphics. Apart from this, all the pages should have complementary styles in terms texts and buttons.

Fonts

Fonts play one of the most important roles in the design of a web page. There are basically two types of fonts, namely serif and sans serif. The basic difference between these fonts is that the former one uses additional end strokes while the latter ones don’t use them. On a web page, both these fonts can be used together but the aesthetic factor should always be considered. For example, most of the websites use sans-serif on the header parts as they are clear and easier to read even when they are small. And the serif fonts are used especially in the sub-headings to add a stylish appearance.

You should also consider the length of the content while choosing the font type as too many contents won’t look good on serif fonts. Besides, you need to think of the size and the hierarchy of the contents. A lot of fonts or different font sizes can be distracting for a viewer.

User-friendliness

The most important part of web designing is considering the usability of the website. Your site is great only when it is convenient to your users. Thus, you should make sure that it can be navigated easily, has minimum load speed, and serves users with right what they are looking for.

Smart Call to Actions

A catchy design, constant flow, perfect color schemes and properly combined fonts won’t do the work if the users are not able to connect with you. So, try and build an easy access to your contact us section keeping every element in it highlighted.

No matter what type of website you are about to design, make proper use of these 5 elements and you will be right on your way towards creating an impressive website.
